Our Founder

I have been in the movement industry for most of my life. As a young girl, I studied ballet and, as a teen, modern and jazz dance. During my teen years, the "fitness craze" was at its inception, and I became increasingly interested in this type of movement. Intrigued by the way the classes worked my cardiovascular system and created a sense of euphoria, I came to believe that this was my calling, but also felt that the structure of most of these classes needed a good deal of refining.

By combining the most beneficial, and easy to follow, elements of dance technique and fitness, I developed a workout that had a natural flow. As I became comfortable with the format, I began teaching, first at various studios in Pittsburgh, where I went to college, and then, when I moved to Manhattan, at some of its most prestigious studios and health clubs. Soon, I started branching out into private sessions and my workload increased quite rapidly. My clients included super models, CEO's, literary agents, fashion designers, etc. Before long, I was featured in such publications as Glamour, Fitness and Shape magazines, and appeared on network television. Eventually, I was approached by Motown and then Reebok to do exercise video tapes using my methodology.

I decided that a graduate degree in applied physiology and kinesiology was the next step for me to become a credible source in this highly competitive industry. During my years at Columbia University, I explored the tiny micro-organisms that make up our physiological system, studied the biomechanics of human movement, scanned countless texts and journals, wrote numerous papers and worked hands-on in an exercise lab testing live subjects. The work was both grueling and exhilarating, and, ultimately, enabled me to substantiate the science behind movement. Fast-forward ten years and here I am in Peekskill with my own movement studio. Sky Movement Studio is situated on the second floor of a beautiful, turn of the century building, whose architectural features exposed brick walls, rich wooden floors and a hand-hewn beam ceiling--create a warm, inviting and cozy ambiance. My classes are the result of my life long exploration of body work. Each class is designed with scrupulous attention to detail, each class a journey to awaken your senses. At Sky, classes are kept small so that the instructor can give personalized attention to all students. Precise cueing, guided visualizations and absolute support and encouragement will give you the results you are looking for.
