Class Descriptions
core conditioning / body sculpting
Paula Carnabuci
The focus of this class is the body's "critical core musculature" which supports and aligns the body. The core is made up of small muscles which wrap around the pelvis, abdomen and ribs. These are all posture sustaining muscles. Core development is instrumental in achieving deep, underlying strength and, therefore, effecting change. In this class we utilize techniques similar to those which dancers use to make them lean, graceful, strong and well defined results that you will walk away with as well.
integrated movement
Paula Carnabuci
This class is based on a compilation of many different research and body work studies, melded together to form an overall body and mind experience. The flow of yoga calms the mind and connects breath with movement. The innovative research techniques create strength and body awareness while improving both body posture and alignment. This, combined with the conditioning elements of resistance training and calisthenics, promotes overall health and well being, resulting in a healthy, younger stronger body.
total body stretch
Paula Carnabuci
This class employs a theory that most dancers are accustomed to called Laban analysis. This technique uses pulls of energy to understand shaping and direction as it applies to movement. In the context of stretch, this theory is very useful because it enables the participants to visualize the oppositional pulls of energy that align and open the body. Guided visualization techniques, hands-on alignment adjustments and explanations of the scientific principles behind the disciplines of stretch allow the participants to fully experience the bliss of elongating and opening the body.
skycycling
Henry and Margaret
Skycycling utilizes the X-Bike, which features adjustable free-wheel resistance to simulate outdoor riding and promote proper cycling form. The side-to-side movement in the adjustable-resistance handlebars strengthens your upper body. Balance, power and core stability are increased as you smoothly coordinate upper and lower body movements. This, combined with interval training (i.e. maximum effort interspersed with relief periods), increases metabolic costs, boosting cardiovascular-vascular output. The end result is an experience similar to outdoor cycling, in a controlled, supportive environment.
